Repairing Damaged Screen Pipes with Tube Hydroforming: Experiments and Feasibility Analysis

During oil-well production, there are often cracks, breaks, and perforation corrosion on the screen pipe that can significantly deteriorate sand control strength. To repair damaged pipes, we developed a technique originating from tube hydroforming, feasibility of was systematically investigated. First, elastoplastic mechanics patch tubes during hydroforming process analyzed to investigate forming mechanism. Second, tensile experiments showed AISI 321 after cold drawn solution had good mechanical properties. A numerical simulation model composed steel built effect structural parameters such as length, initial outer diameter, thickness performance. Forming pressure did not change with but it decreased diameter increased thickness. In addition simulation, test bench constructed experimentally method. Test results could fit closely base pipe, residual contact stress be more than 139.78 kN/m2. Deformation strengthening due deformed martensite conducive improving strength hydroforming. The combination experiment indicates application technology effectively pipes.
